Someday

God is love. – 1 John 4:8

Every little girl has had the fantasy of living in a Disney Princess and Meg Ryan movie. You wake up on a sunshiny day, put on your favorite sundress, and casually bump into a cute stranger while on a stroll through central park. After that one, quick moment you both form a friendship that quickly buds into love and just like that your “someday” has come.

As the movie begins we imagine ourselves as this beautiful, radiant, strong character that is just about to be noticed by the world. And as the storyline goes on, so does our imagination, hope, and dreams twirling and spinning in a gorgeous dress. But then the end credits roll and all of our hopes and dreams dance away with them leaving us behind to wonder when our “someday” will come.

Someday. To me, this word is hope. It means that one day all of my dreams and desires will come true. It’s a word I’ve always used when I’ve talked about my future husband and our life together. It means one day perfect, true love will come! But tonight as I was doing my Bible study something crossed my mind: Someday has already come.

But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth His Son… – Galatians 4:4

For God so loved the world, that He sent His one and only Son. – John 3:16

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. – Luke 2:11

Someday came when perfect love was born in a manger! The moment the whole earth was waiting for came and love was finally perfect and true in the purest form when sweet baby Jesus took his first breath.

Doesn’t that just put someday in a new perspective for you? It does for me! All those years spent singing “Someday My Prince Will Come” and thinking about the day earthly love would come find me, when in reality eternal love had already found me the day I bowed my head and clasped my little hands to ask Jesus into my heart.

Disney movies are fun to watch and daydream about, but they are not the “someday” we have been waiting for. That day came over 2,000 years ago in a manger. The best part is that it doesn’t end there! Now there is a new someday to look forward to! A day where that little baby wrapped in perfect love will come back and make everything in this world shiny and new!

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5 who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. – 1 Peter 1:3-5

“he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus” How great is that? Because of that someday so long ago we now have a newfound hope in Him to look forward to again in Heaven.

We don’t have to sit in our ballgowns and wonder about whether or not our prince took a wrong turn somewhere because He’s already come! And He’s coming back again soon! So today let’s all just take a moment to thank God for the someday and hope His love has given us!
